While I was at SouthBySouthWest in Austin, TX this past week, I was hit between the eyes with a hard-to-handle piece of news. Melvin Sparks passed away unexpectedly at the young and spry age of 64. Just a week before, I was playing one of he songs he was known for with the two musicians he was known for playing with. I’m lucky enough to be considered a part of Beau Sasser Trio, based in Northampton, MA – here’s a clip from that show with BST (feat.
